At USFSM we began offering our new B.A. in Professional and Technical Communication in the Fall 2013 semester. This is the only undergraduate degree of its kind in the entire tax-supported state university system of Florida. We thank Dean Jane A. Rose in the USFSM College of Arts & Sciences for her support of this initiative and the USF System Board of Trustees for approving this new degree in November 2012. (Students who began before Fall 2013 may be pursuing an English major with concentration in Business and Technical Writing.) For information on this degree in the USFSM undergraduate catalog, please see this link.

I encourage students to contribute links and ideas that they find useful for career advancement and professional growth. If you are a USF Sarasota-Manatee student, internship sponsor, or alumnus who would like to be included on the instructor’s email list for announcements about jobs, freelance opportunities, and other matters of interest to writers and editors, send a request to tr (at) (Please notify me if you find any link here not functioning correctly; all links were checked on 10-15-2017.)
